Happy month of June everyone!
This month is a special month for fathers and following my research from last month, I looked how we started celebrating Fathers. Here is what I found. Super interesting! Don’t forget to celebrate your Dad on June 20th!
History of Father’s Day
Father’s Day, in the North America is a holiday (third Sunday in June) to honor fathers. Credit for originating the holiday is generally given to Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, whose father, a Civil War veteran, raised her and her five siblings after their mother died in childbirth. She is said to have had the idea in 1909 while listening to a sermon on Mother’s Day, which at the time was becoming established as a holiday.
Local religious leaders supported the idea, and the first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, the month of the birthday of Dodd’s father. In 1924 U.S. Pres. Calvin Coolidge gave his support to the observance, and in 1966 Pres. Lyndon B. Johnson issued a proclamation that recognized the day. It became a national holiday in 1972, when Pres. Richard Nixon signed legislation designating the third Sunday of June as Father’s Day. Great to know!

An amazing interview with Doug Cornfield and Dave Clark, author & inspiration for the books “A Pound of Kindness” and “Pulling Each Other Along” A Pound of Kindness is a true story from the childhood of Dave Clark, the only professional baseball player to pitch from crutches, A National Hero of Sports winner, and an advocate for children with differing abilities.
Having worked with Dave for a number of years through their Disability, Dream, and Do sports events, Doug J. Cornfield wrote A Pound of Kindness to share with children and parents alike the enduring power of a simple, thoughtful act. What began as a Kickstarter is now a children’s picture book and a movement to empower children of differing abilities through sports and camps.
An inspiring interview with Dr. Fred DiDomenico where he talks to us about his book “You Are More Powerful than You Think”
In his book, Dr. Fred shares the divine inspiration that led to its writing and shares practical actions and insights about things that might otherwise seem ethereal and out of reach for many. In short, he makes spirituality and growth accessible for all. It is a step by step guide in reconnecting with the unbridled power and strength you were born with.
Dr. Fred began as a chiropractor and transitioned into a self-empowerment and business coach by trade. Through his experience in chiropractic and as demonstrated by his ability to usher in dramatic positive changes in the lives of the chiropractors he coaches, Dr. Fred has been recognized as a healing and inspirational force in the lives of thousands.
Throughout his life he has endeavored to become not just the best with spinal corrective chiropractor, but he works to be an inspirational leader using powerful communication and self-empowerment techniques and processes that others have successfully used to better themselves and their lives in every area.
Dr. Fred’s lifelong desire has always been to make a difference in people, inspiring them to live a fulfilled life according to their individual spiritual calling. He believe a person’s physical existence affects generations far beyond one person’s lifetime, like the concentric circles of waves that disperse from a rock dropped into a pond.
Dr. Fred believes the world will be enlightened because you lived your life with intention, and you were an example for others to do the same. He believes you are more powerful than you think. And he believes you are called to reach for it.
Brent Wallace spent more than two decades looking into a camera, bringing TSN’s audience the latest sporting news. He was an Ottawa reporter, but his coverage was global: from the Canadian Tire Centre to the London Olympics to U.S. Congress hearings on steroid use in baseball.
In February 2021, Brent went to work like any other day to find out at the end of the day he was laid off. No one is prepared to hear these words.
In this interview, Brent shares very openly and honestly how he processed and lived this event, but most of all, he shares with us how he bounced back from it. With great new projects already in progress, he’s sharing how he pivoted and is super optimistic about his future.

Happy month of May everyone!
This month is a special month for mothers and I was curious and wanted to know how we started celebrating mothers. Here is what I found. Super interesting! Don’t forget to celebrate your mom on May 9th!
History of Mother’s Day Celebrations of mothers and motherhood can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honor of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele, but the clearest modern precedent for Mother’s Day is the early Christian festival known as “Mothering Sunday.”

Have to share this month’s birth flower, the Daisy, is one of my favorites.
The Daisy conveys innocence, loyal love, and purity and I love it!
Fun fact: the daisy is also a flower given between friends to keep a secret; the daisy means “I’ll never
tell!”
