I discuss the main topic that often comes up with family-based entrepreneurs: stress, pressure, time, and availability. When you’re helping a new entrepreneur (your child) navigate their business, the squeeze often lands more on you, the parent, because you see the whole picture. It’s critical foundational work to decide what you’re going to do for yourself and when you’ll take time off—whether it’s golf, the spa, or simply turning your phone over. If you start to feel internal stress or hear yourself thinking or saying, “You don’t understand,” it’s time to take care of yourself preventatively so you don’t have to do it correctively.
